Introduction

Cooperative Education Fund Committee is constituted by the State Govt. in terms of Section 80 of W.B.C.S. Act 2006 read with Rule 124 of W.B.S.R. 2011 with members drawn from Agricultural Societies, Marketing Societies, Non-Agricultural Societies and Non-Agril, Non Credit Societies as well as nominee of Registrar and the Federal Cooperatives.

Function of Co-operative Education Fund Committee

Mobilization of funds from every cooperative society for the purpose of education of members, development & improvement of Cooperative Societies, publicity, publication & research and also for award of prizes and honorarium.

Under Rule 124(1) of W.B.S.R. 201 1 every Cooperative society shall, after the close of each co-operative year contribute five per cent of its net profit subject to a maximum of rupees fifteen thousand to the Co-operative Education Fund. Such contribution shall be remitted to the West Bengal State Co-operative Bank Limited or to the Central co-operative Bank of the area concerned within three months from the date of receipt of the audited accounts- The Central Co-operative Bank on receipt of the amount shall transfer the same to the West Bengal State Co-operative Bank Limited in the name of Cooperative Education Fund within a period of thirty days from the date of the receipt.

Zonal conferences is held annually with the invitees from the different offices of the cooperation department & district cooperative union for the purpose of acquainting them with the activities of Cooperative Education Fund Committee and also for their support in collection of contribution from the different cooperatives under their jurisdiction, suggestions are also taken into consideration to improve training and education programmes at 7 CCMs of West Bengal State Cooperative Union as well as at grass root level through DCEls in respective districts.
